The Shapiro Foundation, launched in 2001, has a mission to serve the world’s most vulnerable population of over 70.8 million refugees, internally displaced people, and asylum-seekers. The foundation’s work follows along a continuum of serving immediate needs of the most vulnerable refugees and solving complex, structural problems in the refugee resettlement system. Through meaningful partnerships across five continents, the Shapiro Foundation’s goals are to alleviate suffering in the most extreme situations and to actively develop creative resettlement opportunities in advanced economies. Based in Boston, the philanthropic foundation is headed by Ed and Barbara Shapiro

Tripadvisor Charitable Foundation, launched in 2010, supports programs designed to relieve the suffering of people around the world through education, health, human services, and international affairs. Special emphasis is directed toward critical human needs, disaster aid, and crisis relief. The foundation’s employee-led philanthropy has resulted in donations of over $25 million from the Tripadvisor Charitable Foundation to global nonprofits tackling community development, public health and disaster relief challenges. For Tripadvisor, it’s not about creating a big splash or making lots of noise; it’s about using their expertise and assets thoughtfully and strategically to improve lives.
